It may sound quite shocking but there are at least three Josephs in the Bible with Godly purpose. The writing will challenge and reveal you answers of one of the wealthy Joseph of Arimethia who buried Jesus in a empty new stone tomb where neither wicked nor rich had ever been buried yet fulfilled Isaiah 53:9- “He was assigned a grave with the wicked and rich in his death.” And yes the writing also clarified if Mary was virgin mother of Jesus then Joseph was with no doubt a virgin father.
Joseph the dreamer and believer
First is the Jacob’s son Joseph the dreamer. He was extremely Godly person not hating his brothers nor enemies despite persecutions for his dreams. On reading Bible Joseph is found unhappy with shameful things committed by sons of Bilha and Jilpa-concubines of Jacob hinting that Joseph loved righteousness since childhood. After being sold to slavery in Egypt, Joseph was falsely accused of rape by his master’s wife ending him in prison where he interprets dreams of baker, wine bearer and Pharoah before being released. Joseph plans for securing the food for the future in Egypt during the famine to feed the whole earth. Finally he gets married and rules Egypt as the second power under the king. Good thing is that he gave refuge and food to his father Jacob and persecuting brothers with all his dreams fulfilled. Joseph was a real believer in God’s promises and said to Israelites, “GOD will surely come to your aid, and then you must carry these bones up from this place,” in Genesis 50:25 before his final death.
Virgin father Joseph of Jesus Christ
Second Joseph is husband of Mary-the mother of Jesus Christ. Matthews 1:19 reveals “Joseph was faithful to law and righteous man.” Carpenter by occupation, Joseph took care of Jesus and Mary all the days of his life. He had to flee all the way to Egypt as per the dream received from GOD for the safety of baby Jesus from cruel King Herod. He was one who performed circumcision for Jesus. After Herod died they returned back to Galilee. Once when he lost Jesus in the temple at the time of Passover, he found Jesus listening and asking questions to teachers of law and giving answers with great understanding putting them in awe. Luke 2:22 says, “Joseph and Mary took Jesus to Jerusalem to present him to the LORD”. Joseph had dedicated Jesus to the Temple by obeying Law “Every firstborn male is to be consecrated to the LORD” in Exodus 13:2, 12. So it’s no wonder why 12 year old Jesus said to Joseph in Luke2:49 “Why are you searching for me? Didn’t you know I had to be in my Father’s house?” But Joseph did not understand.
How Joseph was virgin father of Jesus?
When 30 year old Jesus was baptized, after fasting 40 days in the desert failing devil, he started preaching with power-authority-wonders and people recognized him as the son of Joseph in Luke 4: 22 “Isn’t he Joseph’s son.” Joseph belonged to tribe of Judha having a GOD’s promise to bear Jesus on earth for salvation. Joseph was a virgin father of Jesus Christ because he was upright man faithful to Law and became father of Jesus without intercourse with virgin Mary. Jesus not only had virgin mother Mary but also blessed virgin father Joseph-an upright man faithful to Law. This adulterous generation has difficulty in understanding this, because they are too focused on virgin Mary. And yet Bible presents Joseph from tribe of Judha more evidently as virgin father through genealogical records of Matthew and Luke. God fulfilled his prophecy of woman’s child crushing serpent’s head in Genesis 3:15 by being born in Judha tribal man with covenant in Jeremiah 23:5″Behold the days are coming declares the LORD for I shall raise up for David a righteous branch and he shall reign as king and deal wisely in the land.”
Wealthy disciple Joseph burier of dead Jesus Christ
Third is a wealthy Joseph of Arimethia who buried dead crucified Jesus. Combining Matthew 27:57-61, Mark 15:42-47, Luke 23:50-54, John 19:38-42, Joseph was member of a council, a good and upright man. He had become disciple of Jesus looking for GOD’s kingdom secretly because he feared Jewish leaders. Such a blessed disciple Joseph boldly marched to Pilate and asked for dead body of Jesus for burial. Taking the dead body wrapped around it in linen cloth with the mixture of spices, myrrh and aloes about seventy five pounds brought by his friend Nicodemus. Joseph then buried Jesus in his own new tomb cut out of stone in the garden nearby in Golgatha where Jesus was crucified. No one had ever been buried in that tomb. He finally showed tomb to some of the devout woman followers of Jesus along with his mother and rolled the stone to close the entrance of the tomb. Joseph fulfilled GOD’s purpose and prophecy of Isaiah 53:9 in Jesus life, “He was assigned a grave with the wicked and with the rich in his death.”
But how was Jesus buried in a grave with the wicked and rich when it was a new empty tomb inside huge stone without any one ever being buried?
Someone might ask a question “How come Jesus was buried in the grave of wicked and rich when it was new tomb of Joseph where no had ever been buried?” In the first instance this question seems perplexing unless combining Isaiah’s prophecies with Peter’s writing. Jesus indeed was buried in the grave with rich people and wicked as per 1Peter 3:18-20 “He was put to death in body but made alive in Spirit. He went and preached to imprisoned spirits who were disobedient when GOD patiently waited in the days of Noah while the ark was being built.” Both Peter and Isaiah are speaking of rich and wicked men of the times of Noah. Briefly speaking Joseph somehow did not know his new burial tomb shared grave underneath with ancient wicked and rich but still GOD fulfilled his purpose through upright Joseph. The present generation has difficulty in understanding the prophecy because they thinking of the rich and wicked of this adulterous generation instead of disobedient generations of Noah’s timeline. Dead body of Jesus was laid but not buried in new stone tomb, but his alive was buried underneath ancient grave filled with rich and wicked where he preached righteousness.
