Approaching the Bible

I’ve written previously about what I believe to be the dangers in approaching the Bible – I believe many conflate the Bible with God Himself, making it a de facto fourth member of the Trinity.

I’ve also written about my guiding principle in where I position the Bible in my theology – that the Bible has, at this point, been translated and reconsidered so many times that I find it difficult to consider what we have today to be God breathed in any single form. Each version of the Bible contains assumptions and projections that I believe lessen the ability of the original text to impact the reader in a way that leads to transformation.
